What happened
Simon Harmer, the South African off-spinner, was retained by Durban's Super Giants for SA20 Season 5 and never entered the 7 October 2026 auction.
Why it matters
There is no base price and no final price to report for Harmer this season - his status is unchanged heading into January.
Remember this
No auction price means Durban finished its squad before the auction began.
More context & who is affected
Simon Harmer has no SA20 2027 auction price because Durban's Super Giants kept him, so no base price or final bid exists for him. He is one of DSG's retained domestic players alongside Aiden Markram and Gerald Coetzee.
The auction was held on 7 October 2026 in Johannesburg, with 156 players shortlisted, 19 sold and three left unsold. Jason Rowles was the priciest pick, moving to Joburg Super Kings for R2.9 million.
SA20 Season 5 kicks off on 17 January 2027 at St George's Park and ends with the final at Newlands on 21 February 2027.

Why there is no price
Franchise T20 auctions only sell open slots. Durban's Super Giants completed all 19 of their squad slots through retentions before the 7 October 2026 auction, so Harmer, Markram and Coetzee never appear on the bid list.
SA20 Season 5 timeline
- 7 October 2026 - Auction held in Johannesburg, 156 shortlisted, 19 sold, 3 unsold.
- 17 January 2027 - Season opener at St George's Park, Gqeberha: Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs Pretoria Capitals.
- 21 February 2027 - Final at Newlands.
Cricket Fans
Harmer fans get certainty: he stays with Durban's Super Giants for SA20 Season 5, so no transfer speculation is needed.
Franchise T20 Followers
Because Durban finished its 19-player squad before the auction, retained players like Harmer show no price at all - only 19 slots were actually sold from a 156-player shortlist.
