Reserve Bank of India (RBI) ne 16 September 2026 ko banking system se ₹2.90 lakh crore do overnight Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auctions ke through absorb kiya, jisse excess liquidity hatayi gayi.
Pehle VRRR auction mein RBI ko ₹2,50,000 crore notified amount ke against ₹3,17,088 crore bids mile, aur usne ₹2,50,025 crore accept kiye. Auction ka cut-off rate aur weighted average rate 5.24% tha, RBI ke official press releases ke mutabiq, cut-off rate par 66.9% partial acceptance lagi.
Dusre VRRR auction mein RBI ne ₹1,00,000 crore notified kiye par sirf ₹40,302 crore bids mile, jo wo poore accept kar liye. Yeh auction bhi 5.24% cut-off aur weighted average rate par clear hua.
15 September 2026 tak banking system ki liquidity ~₹9.85 lakh crore surplus mein thi, jo heavy FCNR(B) deposits mobilisation aur month-end government expenditure (salary, pension) ki wajah se hai.
Agast 2026 se RBI various VRRR auctions kar raha hai surplus liquidity absorb karne aur overnight money market rates ko repo rate se align karne ke liye. Yah sustained multi-week liquidity-management drive ka part hai, jisme RBI ne 15 September ko ₹3.93 lakh crore aur 4 September ko ₹6.02 lakh crore VRRR ke through absorb kiya hai.
