Thousands of people dressed in white took to the streets of Culiacán, the capital of Sinaloa state in northwestern Mexico, on Sunday to demand an end to the violence that has blighted the region for two years. The march, organized by relatives of victims, local businesses, civil society groups and the Catholic Church, opened with a Mass at the cathedral.
